CHOOSE THE SUITABLE INHALER

Types of nebulizers
10.12.2018

For a quick cough treatment, choose a modern and effective method, namely treatment with a nebulizer, a device better known as an inhaler. In pharmacy today one can find models that are different in design, price, size and characteristics.
What is the difference and what to choose for home and for family?
Today, 4 types of nebulizers (medical inhalers) are used in medical practice:

  • steam inhalers
  • electronic mesh nebulizers
  • ultrasonic nebulizers
  • compressor nebulizers

The last three devices are named with the term “nebulizers” from the Latin word “Nebula” meaning “fog, cloud”.

This device generates spray, or cool steam, out of inhaling solution. The efficiency of the device and its price depend on the size of generated particles.

Modern devices break medicine into micro-steam consisting of particles = 3-3.5 microns: as a result, it easily penetrates into the lungs, up to the alveoli, delivering medicine to the target organ for rapid recovery.

Electronic mesh (MESH) nebulizers

These inhalers are characterized by three great advantages:

  • they are compact and lightweighted: the weight of B.Well MESH nebulizer is 137 g;
  • suitable for all types of medicines for nebulizers;
  • the devices are silent and operate at an angle of up to 45 degrees.

The MESH nebulizer with the size of a small banana is ready to operate once you press the button. The device is silent, so you will be able to perform inhalation even for a sleeping child. This nebulizer is useful for young mothers since inhalation is a simple and safe way to treat a cough.

Ultrasonic nebulizer

The ultrasonic nebulizer is a predecessor of the MESH nebulizer. It is compact and lightweight, but due to ultrasonic separating particles technology, only certain medications are allowed to be used with it.

Compressor nebulizer

Compressor nebulizers form an aerosol cloud with the help of a compressor, which unfortunately makes the device bulky and noisy. However, this is the only disadvantage. The advantages include price and versatility: all medicines can be used for nebulizer therapy.

The device is used to treat both adults and children. It has many additional accessories such as an infant mask, nasal shower and others.

The size of sprayed particles is less than 4 microns, and respirable fraction (the content of particles of less than 4 microns in a cloud of sprayed steam) makes up more than 70%, which makes the compressor nebulizer an indispensable tool in the fight against colds, cough, runny nose, ARD, asthma attacks and other respiratory diseases.

Steam inhaler

The action of steam inhalers is based on the effect of hot fluid evaporation. Many of us are familiar with inhalation above a saucepan of potatoes or chamomile. Steam inhalation is effective against coughs and colds.

For inhalation with steam using herbal decoction, it is better to give preference to a professional inhaler, and not to a saucepan for the following reasons:

Hot steam burns the respiratory tract, which is harmful
When boiling, part of the medicine substance is destroyed
Hot inhalation should not be carried out at a temperature of (37.5 degrees)
Hot steam inhalation is contraindicated for children under 3 years of age

The professional device has a special temperature mode, which allows saving the maximum amount of nutrients in the steam. This inhalation can not lead to a burn since the medication solution is in a sealed chamber, and the generated steam is of a comfortable temperature. In addition, the same device can be used for cosmetic procedures.

We are proud that B.Well devices meet the highest European standards and allow providing professional treatment at home.
