HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND POOR EYESIGHT

UNOBVIOUS RELATIONSHIP
21.09.2021

For some, vision begins to fall already in childhood, for others it changes with age. Why does it happen?

The main reasons for decreased vision are:

  • frequent eye strain
  • spine diseases and poor blood circulation
  • aging of the retina
  • eye injury
  • regular stress and lack of sleep.

Another non-obvious cause is hypertension. High blood pressure can lead to very serious visual disorders up to complete loss of vision. This disease has become younger in recent years, and people aged 25 to 50 began to suffer from it.

How does it happen? Hypertension can damage blood vessels in the retina, the area at the back of the eye where images are focused. The main role of blood vessels there is to nourish the retina. They are especially thin and sensitive to high blood pressure in this place, and their damage can cause irreversible pathological changes. This disease is known as hypertensive retinopathy. It can become a very serious problem if hypertension is not treated in time.

If you notice that your vision has become worse, it could be a sign to start controlling your blood pressure. Cardiologists recommend that blood pressure should be measured 2-3 times a day. In our busy environment, it is possible to do using blood pressure monitor

Blood pressure monitor or BPM is a digital device which uses the oscillometric method of blood pressure measurement. BPM records air pressure oscillation arising in the cuff. It occurs under the influence of blood flow in the squeezed section of the artery. Pressure oscillations are converted into electrical signals by an electronic device. An automatic system analyzes the signals and converts them into numerical values. Depending on the device options, you receive blood pressure indicators, heart rate, information about the arrhythmia presence. Readings can be stored in memory for later analysis and long-term monitoring.

Automatic blood pressure monitors of B.Well Swiss have all these options and can measure blood pressure on a forearm and wrist. They are small in size, easy to use, accurate and comply with international quality standards. All of them have an arrhythmia indicator which allows the patient to see a doctor on time. PRO line BPMs are precise and affordable for everyone. MED line devices have advanced functions to control the health of the whole family.

If eye problems have already begun, then you should pay attention to the following BPMs:

  • MED-55

This blood pressure monitor has a unique option to show the level of blood pressure using a colored display backlight. Even without seeing the numbers, you will understand if blood pressure is normal or not. The colors are green, yellow or red. The device also has a 3check mode, which automatically performs three consecutive measurements, analyzes the results using a special algorithm and gives a highly accurate reading.

  • PRO-36

If eyesight is really bad, the best option will be a talking blood pressure monitor. The device gives voice instruction and reads results which is highly convenient for people with impaired vision. The accuracy of the measurement is guaranteed by the Intellect Classic measurement system.

All automatic B.Well blood pressure monitors are operated with the push of one button, proven to be effective due to compliance with the requirements of the Medical Device Directive (MDD) 93/42/EEC, and have noble white design. They will satisfy your needs in a convenient and accurate blood pressure measurement, and allow to control your health on a daily basis.

Take care of yourself and loved ones and be well!
