WHAT IS A NASAL ASPIRATOR AND WHY IS IT NEEDED?

12.05.2021

In the first-aid kit of every mother there are a lot of medicines and gadgets that can help against cough, runny nose, fever, etc. Let's talk about one of the most important devices for baby care — a nasal aspirator.

What is a nasal aspirator?

A nasal aspirator is a device designed to clean a baby’s nasal cavity from mucus. When performing daily hygiene procedures in caring for a newborn, you should not forget about the nose. If a cotton stick is suitable for daily hygiene, then it cannot be done with a runny nose.

The fact is that up to 2-3 years old, a child does not know how to blow his nose, and cannot clean the nose on his own. The baby needs help with this, because a runny nose becomes a problem: breathing becomes difficult, feeding and sleep are disturbed, and anxiety appears. The nasal aspirator will gently and safely remove mucus from the baby's nose, bringing relief and free breathing.

There are different types of nasal aspirators for children on the market but the most convenient, efficient and easy to use is electronic nasal aspirators.

It is the safest type of aspirator. The principle of operation is elementary: insert a neat silicone tip into the child's nostril and press the button. The device easily and gently pumps out both liquid and thick mucus without causing discomfort. Please note that a nasal aspirator such as B.Well WC-150 is a medical device. The aspirator is equipped with a transparent container for collecting mucus, two silicone tips of different sizes and additionally has a music button with 12 favorite baby tunes to distract the baby from the process and finish the procedure faster.

There are no contraindications to the use of the device, except for damage to the integrity of the mucous membrane of the nasal passages and some individual features of the structure of the nasal septum.

Rules on the use of aspirator:

  • Wash a new device before using
  • Rinse the mucus collection container and tips after each use
  • Get the right tip size
  • Moisten the nasal passages (for example, with saline) before the procedure to help mucus pass away more easily
  • Pinch one nostril to help drain mucus from the other.

A nasal aspirator is a device that will be relevant in the first years of a baby's life. It is worth remembering that the device eliminates the consequences, not the cause, therefore, in case of any alarming symptoms, consult your pediatrician. Despite the fact that the aspirator has been designed specifically for children, it also shows itself well in working with adults. B. Well WC-150 nasal aspirator is developed in cooperation with pediatricians, it is a sealed, safe and effective medical device.
